Tour of Sri Lanka 2025 | Last Day | Colombo – India

Categories :

On my last day in Sri Lanka, I woke up early, freshened up, and sat on the veranda to write in my diary. With the city and hostel still quiet, I finished my entry and, with nothing else to do, decided to take a short morning walk.

Sunday morning Colombo roads
Sipping tea and watching Colombo city slowly wake up

Also, I am in a need of a hot cup of tea. The sun has come up nicely as I walk the roads in the early morning where a hint of coolness prevail. I find a tea cafe not far from the hostel. The guy is also just getting started. He has a shiny red Mazda car parked right in front of the door. I appreciate his car and he reciprocated by firing it’s engine and making me listen the sheer raw exhaust note. He says, the police catch him if he revvs too hard in public.

The cafe owner’s car

I have a milk tea first followed by a black tea as I sit outside the cafe and peacefully watching as the Colombo traffic flows. It’s such a nice feeling to spend a relaxed Sunday morning like this. After some time, the sun starts to get harsh on me. It’s start to get hot, so I decide to leave the cafe and head back to the hostel to wrap up the things. Before leaving, he makes me taste on of the home made sweet delicacy.

He tells his sister has prepared and it tastes really good. I buy 2 packets from him, the sweet wrapped up in a toffee shaped white paper. We take selfies together, I thank him before making my way to the hostel. At the hostel, I pack all the things, load up my bike and go to the Royal Enfield showroom where Amol is waiting for me. I reshuffle all the luggage making 2 sections, one for cabin luggage and another for check-in. After the airport style packing is done, I freshen myself up. I call the cab to take me to the airport.

Finally, earning the Sri Lankan number plate

We take some photos with the bike number plate which I will be taking back as a souvenir. I thank Amol and his staff for supporting me in all of the things I needed in Sri Lanka. The cab arrives, I wave goodbyes and off we move towards Airport.

On the way, we stop at a popular snacks hotel to pack some as I haven’t eaten a proper meal since morning. We’d got served a simple light breakfast from the hostel side in the morning, but it was free. I munch on the samosas in the car as we move in the direction of the airport.

Heading towards the airport

We encounter city traffic for a while but after hitting the e-way, we quickly cover the distance. The airport is not much crowded. I move inside, get my luggage scanned and immediately get my boarding pass. I wait it out at the gate no 12 for the boarding to begin. We have our final security check before we move towards the aircraft. The flight is late by almost 30mins.

See you next time in another country!

They serve me wine and chicken curry rice in the evening. The plane lands around 8pm. I exit the aircraft, clear my immigration booth and proceed towards the baggage counter. In few minutes, I locate my bag. It seems all OK with it. I exit the airport and move to the booth of KK travels, the taxi service provider with whom I have already arranged my transfer via cab to Pune.

We are allocated a cab in no time and by 8:45pm, we are on the roads of Mumbai making our way towards Pune. I reach Pune around 12:30am after a small mid-way break. Home feels lie Home. I am super relieved to be back home. I get freshened up and crash on my bed which is waiting for me since long time.

Tour of Sri Lanka finally comes to an end!
